Like other chronic diseases, opioid use disorder (OUD) is experienced on a spectrum. The severity of a patient’s condition varies widely and can wax and wane over time. Understanding this, and with a goal to keep patients connected to treatment throughout their journey to recovery, BHG follows a new clinical approach — an Integrated Dynamic Care Model (IDCM). An IDCM offers a platform of blended services that allow a patient to seamlessly move through clinical pathways that offer greater or lesser treatment intensity based on each patient’s disease severity over time. The idea is to ensure consistent treatment no matter how inconsistent the patient’s symptoms. The results are changing how we treat individuals struggling with OUD.
